Industry Codes

| Industry codes are used by business and government to classify and measure economic activity. Codes group together companies based on goods and services produced. Industry codes are useful for searching out lists of companies in a specific industry. While NAICS codes (see below) are intended to replace SIC codes, many sources continue to use SIC codes. |

The SIC manual is available on the U.S. Department of Labor website. Note that in some cases, the SIC codes used in Canada differ from those used in the U.S. SIC codes for Canada are available on Statistics Canada's web site.
